Brisbane is among the largest cities in Australia, a friendly city with a sub-tropical climate that invites visitors to enjoy the great outdoors. Surrounded by mountains, lush rainforest, and beautiful sunny beaches, Brisbane offers plenty of both excitement and relaxation to those on vacation.
An ideal base camp for day tours into the Gold Coast and the Sunshine Coast, Brisbane offers plenty of watersports activities in the nearby Moreton Bay Islands. Almost a quarter of the area comprising Brisbane is green space, with over one thousand public parks and gardens for visitors to enjoy.
Within the city of Brisbane there are ghost tours, or an eco-tour through the lush greenery. Climb up to Story Bridge, which connects the Brisbane suburbs of Kangaroo Point and Fortitude Valley while giving visitors a beautiful view of the city. Have a picnic under the bridge at Captain Burke Park, or stop for a delightful meal at the historic Story Bridge Hotel. Cruising on the Brisbane river from St. Lucia to Hamilton on a high-speed CityCat is a great city tour. To gain a different perspective of it all, Brisbane visitors can rise above on a champagne breakfast balloon flight.
The City Botanic Gardens offers a relaxing day strolling through the mangroves on the boardwalk, then stop at the cafe. At the Mount Coot-Tha Botanic Gardens is the Sir Thomas Brisbane Planetarium, a tropical dome and themed gardens covering several acres.
Art lovers will be right at home at South Bank Cultural Precinct, anchored by the Queensland Art Gallery featuring a collection of excellent art. Next door is the Queensland Museum. The latest at South Bank is the Gallery of Modern Art, and surrounding all are several acres comprising the South Bank Parklands where citizens come to relax and rent a bicycle.
In northern Brisbane is Crocodile Hunter’s Australia Zoo featuring a crocodile stage experience among a day of wildlife adventure. Watch free-flight bird shows plus hands-on exhibits learning about Australian wildlife. Visit the Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary to hand-feed koala bears and kangaroos, plus the sheep dog show at an Aussie Outback farm. Cruise the Brisbane river on the historic MV Mirimar.
